Maryborough was settled in 1847 and is one of Queensland's oldest provincial cities. The port may be long dormant, but its history and gloriously preserved buildings remain - along with a sense of time suspended.

It has exceptional educational services with 14 state and private schools and a TAFE college.  The University of Southern Queensland’s Fraser Coast campus is 35km away at Hervey Bay.

Maryborough has a rich and fascinating history, but what really sets it apart is that much of the heritage remains – just waiting to be uncovered.

Take a guided heritage walk tour of Maryborough and discover our local history with 'Mary Heritage', or one of the other local guides. Dressed in period costume, Maryborough's world famous city ambassador will help you discover the city's colorful past. This free heritage tour with 'Mary', or another city ambassador, departs City Hall on Monday to Saturday at 9.00 am.

Why not visit Maryborough's Portside!  The Portside district runs from the Brolga Theatre, along the Mary River to the Marina, and extends out to parts of Kent, Bazaar and March Streets in the CBD.

Take time to browse the Heritage City Market, held in the CBD every Thursday in Adelaide and Ellena Steets.  There are a variety of stalls including, arts and crafts, local produce, plants, clothes and jewellery. Entertainment is enjoyed on the Town Hall Green.

Don't forget to stay for the firing of the Time Cannon at 1pm and meet our Town Crier and Mary Heritage.
